Five on Friday!

-ONE-
Sunday night I made my new chalkboard art! I am not the best at writing pretty yet but I am getting closer!
I really loved this verse and love even more that it mentions spring!
Can't wait for that warm weather!

We haven't had salt and pepper shakers since we have been married so when I saw these little babes I just had to get them. Target... enough said.

-THREE-
On Wednesday I had a much needed retreat day. I work at a church in the town that we live in and one of the requirements of everyone that works there is to take a retreat day once a month. Basically it is a paid day where you take time away from work to spend in prayer, reading the word, taking walks, napping or whatever you need to do so you feel refreshed and close to the Lord. How cool is that?!! I think every place of work should require that! It makes me really appreciate our pastor and his mindset behind it.

As you can probably tell I spent a lot of time at Panera that day reading and praying. I also spent a little time creating this print.

I love the song Oceans by Hillsong and this is my favorite version!

-FOUR-
On Wednesday Jordan and I had our date night and we decided to go to the Muppet movie! Well, we were the ONLY ONES IN THE THEATER!!! It was pretty amazing! That has never happened for me before and I loved that we were able to laugh as loud as we wanted without worrying about disrupting other people. It was like we had our own private theater.

Weekend!! That means crafts, sleeping in, finally warmer weather, and time with friends!

Have a beautiful day friends!

Love,

  2. Hi there! Found your blog through the 5 on Friday link up - you are such fun! I've had a blast reading through your posts!! :)

First of all - oh my word - to have a retreat day once a month would be AMAZING. Love it!!! Treasure that!! :)

Secondly - a few posts down you talked about finding the balance between working full time and keeping a happy, clean home? I wanted to comment but wasn't sure you'd see it in an old post, so I'm commenting here.

My husband and I got married in December 2012 and we are both in our 30's. We are also commuters. He works about 45 minutes from home and I work an hour from home. We work 5 days a week, plus he works usually 2 Saturdays a month and I sometimes have to work a weekend too. (I work in radio, so if there are concerts and stuff, I work those.) So that leaves VERY LITTLE TIME at home and together!! I have struggled so hard to find the balance too - as I want to be the best homemaker ever...but it's really hard!! I'm very fortunate that my husband likes to do housework (truth: he's actually better at it than I am) and the hard part has been learning to humble myself, swallow my pride and LET him help rather than trying to prove I can do it all. He helps out with laundry and dishes and does the outside chores...and that gives me time to not just work all the time, but also scrapbook and blog and rest. So working as a team has been key for us.

One more thing: LOVED reading that you have a regular date night. Keep that up!! We date every weekend on either Friday or Saturday (depends on the week and our work schedules) and are so careful to protect that time!!

    1. Bekah! Thank you SO much for this sweet encouragement!

I truly treasure the retreat days I have and recently I have learned how important they really are! I am so thankful for that time to refresh and spend with God.

Thank you for the encouragement from my past post about finding balance! Life can be so busy and it can be pretty frustrating at times when you feel like you never have time to get things accomplished! Lately I have been trying to allow my husband to help me when I am overwhelmed! I cannot tell you what a relief that has been. I am so thankful for his willingness to help around the house and serve me in that way. I will be praying for you in this busy season of you life!

We love our date nights! I look forward to them every week and they are usually such a great time to reconnect and spend quality time together!

Love your heart! Thanks again for sharing and for the advice! Have a great day!
